About Ronan
I work as a Learning Support Assistant in a UK school, specialising in structured SEMH-informed support that improves engagement, behaviour, and participation in learning. I work best with pupils who are capable but blocked by anxiety, low confidence, motivation issues, or emotional regulation difficulties—particularly those whose needs don’t always fit neatly into traditional classroom approaches.
I grew up in Brent and have a strong understanding of inner-city school environments and the challenges many pupils face both in and out of school. This background allows me to build rapport quickly with pupils who may feel misunderstood, disengaged, or resistant to support. My approach is calm, consistent, and practical, helping pupils feel safe to engage while setting clear expectations around learning and progress.
I am not a therapist and do not provide counselling. I work within clear safeguarding principles at all times, with parent involvement and transparent communication. I also recognise that no one is the expert on your child except you. The most effective results are achieved when mentoring is a partnership—through open dialogue, shared understanding, and consistent support. I provide calm, structured maths mentoring focused on reducing maths anxiety and building confidence. Sessions break concepts into manageable steps, prioritise understanding over speed, and use predictable routines that help pupils engage without fear of failure. Support includes homework and exam preparation (KS2–KS4), with a strong focus on confidence, focus, and willingness to attempt questions.
I also offer SEMH-informed learning mentoring for pupils whose emotional regulation, motivation, or behaviour impacts learning. Sessions include a brief check-in, clear goal-setting, reflection on barriers to engagement, and practical strategies to improve focus and participation. This is structured learning mentoring—not therapy—with clear boundaries, safeguarding in place, and short parent updates after sessions.
Sessions are weekly and consistent. Parents are welcome to message to discuss whether maths mentoring, SEMH check-ins, or a combined approach is most suitable.
