About Julien
Hi! My name is Julien, and I'm a neuroscience student at Carleton. I love what I study and science in general, so I'd love to help you or your kid understand any subject in science or geography (I'm a massive geography nerd). I'm from Quebec, so I'm perfectly bilingual!

I like to teach using a 4-step method (Math): 1. Good introduction via a sample problem. 2. Theory 3. Revisit the example with theory. 4. Make the student do examples with minimal help.
For other sciences, this method doesn't work. So what I do is, instead of starting with an example, I'll start with a brief overview of what we're trying to explain. For example, if we want to explain photosynthesis, I'll start off by talking about the process in an overtly general explanation, like for example: Photosynthesis is the process of turning CO2 into nutrients, and releasing oxygen. This gives the student a good basis. Then, we can go into the Calvin cycle, etc, and then we can circle back to the intro, where we can now tie everything together, and finish off with some problems related to it.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I love what I teach, so I'm able to easily transfer my knowledge to someone else.
I'd be doing lessons for high school students and below in science and geography. Science is obvious since I'm in a BSc, but for geography, I can say I'm qualified due to the fact that I have an amazing passion for the subject. I've studied the map so much that I have a world map imprinted in my head. I would do history too, but since I come from Quebec, I don't know the Ontario curriculum enough.
