About Freddie
Hello!
My name's Freddie, and I'm currently in my second year reading history at St Catherine's College, University of Oxford. I'm really passionate about history and also feel I have the experience necessary to convert this passion into useful insight for tutoring.
My main experience in tutoring came over lockdown, where I helped out family friends with their History (GCSE) and Economics (AS-level). I really enjoyed this and was surprised at how easily I was able to articulate my ideas and guide my students without spoonfeeding them. During lockdown I also assisted with online history lessons for lower school students at my old school, and helped to rewrite and modernise the lower school history curriculum. Taken together, these expereinces have given me real insight into the teaching and learning of history at all levels from year 7 through to year 13.
I remain an active member of my old school's History and Politics Department, helping with their Oxbridge Admissions for 2 years now. I have assisted 2 students in securing places at Oxbridge, and feel confident giving tutoring on the HAT or giving mock interviews.
I'm aware that I lack conventional tutoring experience a little, but I think I make up for my lack of formal qualifications with a genuine zeal for the subject and a willingness to go above and beyond in terms of preparation and time for my students. I hope to work with you on whatever I can!
