About Shuvayu
Who I Am
I'm a 19-year-old second-year Mechatronics Engineering student at the University of Sydney, with an ATAR of 94.25 from my HSC in 2023. I'm passionate about STEM and enjoy helping others understand complex topics like mathematics and physics. Through my online tutoring experience, I've learned how to explain difficult concepts in simple, relatable ways that resonate with students.
Why I Want to Teach
I love teaching because it gives me the chance to share my passion for learning and help others achieve their goals. I know how tough school can be, and I want to make those challenging subjects more approachable and enjoyable for students. Seeing students gain confidence and succeed is what motivates me to teach and keep improving as a tutor.

My tutoring approach is centered on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring concepts in depth.
As a second-year Mechatronics Engineering student at the University of Sydney, I draw on my solid academic foundation to help students build their understanding in subjects like mathematics, physics, and other STEM-related areas.
I believe in a student-focused approach, tailoring lessons to each student's individual needs, strengths, and areas for improvement. I aim to make learning practical, relatable, and fun by breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible parts. By using a variety of teaching methods, including explanations, real-world examples, interactive exercises, and problem-solving practice, I help students grasp key concepts while also developing critical thinking skills.
Techniques and Teaching Methodology
Conceptual Understanding: I begin by ensuring that students understand the foundational concepts behind the topic. Rather than just memorizing formulas or methods, I focus on the "why" and "how" to deepen their comprehension.
Active Learning: I encourage active participation, using Socratic questioning and problem-solving scenarios that require students to think through problems step by step. This way, students actively engage with the material instead of passively receiving information.
Practice and Application: I incorporate plenty of practice problems and examples that challenge students to apply their knowledge. This reinforces learning and builds confidence in their ability to tackle exam-style questions.
Review and Feedback: I consistently review topics, offer feedback on assignments, and provide additional resources when necessary. Regular quizzes or short assessments help track progress and highlight areas where more focus is needed.
Adapting to Student Needs: If a student struggles with a particular concept, I will adjust the lesson to provide additional support, either by going back to basics or introducing alternate explanations and methods.
Typical Length of a Lesson
A typical lesson is 1 hour long, which is ideal for maintaining focus and ensuring that students have enough time to absorb and apply what they've learned. In this time, I aim to cover specific learning objectives, engage in problem-solving exercises, and answer any questions the student might have.
Qualifications/Experience
I completed my Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 2023 with an ATAR of 94.25, which reflects my strong academic background. As a current second-year Mechatronics Engineering student at the University of Sydney, I have a strong grasp of advanced STEM concepts, and I am well-versed in the New South Wales education syllabuses.
In addition, I have online tutoring experience, having worked with students in subjects such as mathematics, physics, and engineering principles. This has helped me refine my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively in an online setting.
Who Are My Lessons For?
My lessons are primarily aimed at high school students (Year 7-12), particularly those studying NSW curriculam in mathematics, physics, engineering studies, or general STEM subjects. I can also offer support for pre-university students or those interested in engineering-related topics.
Whether you're aiming to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or simply understand the subject matter better, I tailor each lesson to your specific needs and learning style.
