About Iona

I am approaching my second year of Dentistry at Newcastle University after successfully passing my first year exams. Tutoring felt right for me as it aligns with my degree since both are based on providing help to others and giving advice. Since I have completed A levels more recently, my knowledge of Biology remains up to date aligning with the current specification. Like any student, I had areas I struggled to get to grips with which allows me to be empathetic with my students and share my knowledge how I was able to overcome this.

About the lesson

My tutoring sessions are personalised to you based on specific topics you are struggling with and types of exam questions where you are losing marks. I believe communication is key when tutoring so in order for me to help my students achieve that A* I believe it is important for me to develop a rapport with each student to pick up on their areas of weakness and learn how they like to revise. The most common area where students slip up in exams is not from forgetting content but not understanding application of knowledge-based questions. This is why I aim to integrate application questions into each tutoring session after a solid foundation has been built so my students are fully prepared for these difficult questions in exams. Lessons only for AQA A level Biology. Typical lessons are 1 hour long.
