About Patrick
I'm a 17-year-old high schooler interested in computational biology, currently working on a study aimed at publication with mentorship from researchers in ML and biomedical imaging. My academic focus has always been biology and the life sciences - I competed in USABO nationally, scoring a 30 on the Open Exam and advancing to Semifinals.
In my free time, I like connecting with nature and taking long hikes. I'm also a big fan of cinema; I've watched all types of movies and TV shows, and my favorite is Suits! I'm based in the Tri-Valley area and work best one-on-one. I hope to help you succeed!

My lessons are built around how the student actually thinks, not a one-size-fits-all script. In a first session with me, I figure out whether they're struggling with concepts, memorization, or applying knowledge to problems, then I build from there. For AP Bio students, that usually means tying dense content (cellular respiration, genetics, ecology) to intuitive frameworks so it sticks rather than gets crammed and forgotten. For USABO prep, I focus on the analytical reasoning the exam actually tests; the Open and Semifinal reward students who can think through novel scenarios, not just recall facts.
A typical session looks like: quick diagnostic on what we're covering, targeted explanation with back-and-forth questions to check understanding, then working through problems together.
What sets me apart is that I've been on the other side of these exams. I scored a 30 on the USABO Open and advanced to Semifinals, so I know exactly what the prep looks like and where students usually get tripped up. I also do active research in computational biology, so I bring real scientific context to the material rather than just teaching to the test.
Best fit: high schoolers taking AP Bio, honors biology, or preparing for USABO.
