About Mike

Over 14 years I mentored and employed many junior lawyers. I found my role as a mentor (and employer) to be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. I am proud that I was able to be a part of their legal journey as many of those junior lawyers are now successful lawyers, are employed as in-house counsel or have started their own legal practices.

I commenced tutoring law students in 2025 and look forward to tutoring you during your academic studies.

I was awarded my PhD by Monash University in March 2022. I was awarded the Attorney-General’s Medal by Charles Darwin University in 2012 (the premier prize) and I won 3 law prizes during my studies.

About the lesson

In my experience, law students generally need to: (1) develop and apply the right thinking process, (2) master the 'basics', (3) understand the gray areas of a law issue, (4) specifically prepare for exams depending on the style of exam, (5) manage their time, (6) develop study habits and (7) create study notes regularly. Those points form a part of an integrated process to be a successful student and future lawyer.

By way of feedback, as discussed, you are engaging well with the law materials and have a study regime in place. Update your IRAC notes to include ensuring that you answer the issue under anaylsis. The Word template I gave you should assist with the flow of how to answer an issue.
