General Notes
My approach to teaching as an experienced High School and College teacher, is basically following the students needs and curriculum if he is in school, and if not, we’ll work together to find what are the student’s needs and background / experience and the goals he/she wants to achieve. From there, we can design a program that fits his/her expectations and learning style.
Topics
The topics covered will depend on the level of the student, if he is going to school and there is a syllabus, we can follow it; if there is any particular topics the student wants to cover, as long as they align with what the student is covering in school or in whatever formal course he is taking, we could do it. If the student is not following a formal study plan, we can design one depending on their needs/expectations and level.
Materials
I can provide online materials and suggest websites that contain tutorials, presentations, activities, etc. I also like to work with visual materials, like Power Points and Transparencies, in order to reinforce the topics or structures covered all at no cost. I can also suggest a publisher that offers a textbook with an access code to an online website with plenty of materials and activities, like reading, listening, video, cultural, etc., and practice activities to put everything together. This last one, however, has a cost.
