About Charlton

I am a recent master's graduate that studies invasive species. During my time as a student, I have worked with many different students that come from all walks of life. Everyone learns differently and I understand that not everyone will get things right from the start. My end goal is to become a professor at a university and teach students about ecology. It is my passion to help students learn and grow my own skills. I want to be a professor that helps you genuinely learn and have a love for what you learn.

About the lesson

I approach tutoring with the same mindset I bring to fieldwork and university teaching: clarity, curiosity, and genuine support for every learner. I break down complex scientific ideas into approachable steps, using real ecological examples and hands on explanations to help students connect theory to the world around them. My teaching techniques blend guided practice, active questioning, and problem solving so students build confidence as well as competence.

A typical lesson begins with a quick check in on goals and challenges. From there, we work through examples together, gradually shifting responsibility to the student as their understanding grows. I end each session with a short recap and a personalized plan for what to practice next. My lessons are structured but flexible.

What sets me apart is my combination of real field experience, graduate level training in biological sciences, and years of supporting diverse students in university courses. I’ve taught and mentored learners from introductory biology to upper level ecology, and I’m committed to creating an inclusive, encouraging environment where every student feels capable of succeeding in science.

My lessons are ideal for high school and college students studying biology, ecology, environmental science, botany, evolution, or related subjects. I also support students preparing for lab courses, fieldwork, or writing assignments in the biological sciences. Whether you’re building foundational skills or tackling advanced material, I tailor each session to meet you exactly where you are and help you move forward with confidence.
