About Chanelle
I am a recent Master’s graduate and I have been accepted to start my PhD studies this October. During my doctoral studies, I would like to become a teaching assistant in seminars and modules. I really enjoy the teaching aspect of academia as much as the research. I’ve found that one of the best ways to consolidate knowledge and understanding of a concept is to have a discussion about it. It’s also great way to hear different opinions and perspectives on the subject matter.

Lessons will be 45-60 minutes long where I can go over key social theory concepts. The most important thing for me as a tutor is to foster independent thinking. I want my students to understand the basics of the theory and feel confident to critique, question and even reject these in place of their own theories/thoughts. With sociology, or my particular background, health sociology, you need to ground these concepts in real life examples. I would be expecting students to engage in a discussion-type lesson to help solidify understanding of concepts.
