About Hannah
I have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a First class degree in BSc Biology (Hons), with a dissertation that focused on extracting and purifying proteins from plant leaves in the laboratory. Through my studies, I have developed a deeper appreciation for biology and its greater impact on the wider world. This is something I wouldn't have appreciated if I didn't have my own science tutor through GCSEs, who eventually gave me the confidence to do Biology A level and later at degree level. Therefore, I believe if you are struggling in a certain subject it does not make you appear weak, but using a tutor will make you stronger in your knowledge and perhaps uncover your passion like it did for me. I believe it is salient for young children to understand science as it is constantly surrounding us and is such a useful skill to have in later life.

I aim to make my lessons fun and interactive so tutees gain as much out of them as possible. I would have the student guide me to their problem areas and begin there, explaining in detail and using real-life scenarios to ensure understanding. What I understood during my exams in secondary school is that it is equally as important to learn the content as it is to undertake practice questions and so this would be a key focal point as sometimes students forget or disregard practising exam questions. I have experience in leadership roles surrounding school children, such as volunteering to teach children about science and develop their understanding. Lessons can range from 1-2 hours depending on preference and availability and I would teach GCSE or A level content.
