About Sarah

I am an ambitious, motivated, empathetic drama and creative writing graduate who wants to help students reach their full potential through non-traditional teaching methods. I thoroughly believe that drama should be integrated more into the curriculum to make learning more immersive. Too much time spent staring at textbooks doesn’t work for everyone and can be extremely tedious. Through integrating practical work into lessons I hope to help raise my students' confidence whilst increasing knowledge in their chosen subject. As someone who has been through education with many setbacks, I have increased understanding that some learning environments can knock onto the students' self-esteem and confidence. This has inspired me to go into tutoring as I want to create a positive space where my students can express their goals safely without fearing their dreams will be shut down. To meet my students' needs I am happy to travel locally around Wythenshawe, Cheadle and parts of Gatley as I can’t drive

About the lesson

During my lessons work on a student centred approach. What one person might be good at another person might not be. Everyone learns differently and I want to embrace that! GCSE Drama: I can offer guidance on practical skills such as characterisation, improvisation, and method acting (Stanislavsky). I also have experience in devising theatre. During my degree I specialised in naturalistic acting. Some of my previous assessed roles were Elizabeth Proctor and Hedda Gabler. I am also able to advise on rehearsal diaries/reflections. Alongside this I can give some advice around learning lines. GCSE English: As well as practical drama skills I have a lot of experience analysing plays. Whilst I am most knowledgeable on Romeo and Juliet I am very open to educating myself in new plays. From my creative writing experience I am able to offer guidance around the creative writing question featured in the English language exam. I will help my student to develop style, confidence in their writing and feed their creativity. I aim to make all my lessons fun, interactive and engaging to ensure all my students can reach their full potential.
