About Susan

The ability to be a strong teacher stems from learning the needs of my students and consistently motivating success. I believe every student is successful, if they are taught by a successful teacher. My personal development is from the ability to be confident and assertive.

About the lesson

Every child deserves to be an avid reader. It is my lifetime goal to encourage young readers by teaching skills that are individualized and meaningful. My literacy approach provides the strongest positive learning outcomes. Knowing how I teach is as important as what I teach. The reading instruction is evidence-based instructional materials designed for ages four- to ten-year-old children. I have master's degrees in both reading education and special needs. For young readers, a typical lesson plan would include:
- beginning and ending sounds taught with
a game of Visiting the Zoo, with matching hidden pictures
