About Janell
I help beginning and struggling readers build confidence by making reading clear, structured, and achievable. My approach uses systematic, step-by-step phonics instruction through my proprietary EzeeReader program, allowing students to master foundational skills before moving forward. I developed this approach after successfully teaching my own children to read and transformed that experience into a structured program for other families. Lessons are patient, encouraging, and individualized, with guided online instruction and printable reinforcement activities designed to help each student progress toward confident, independent reading.

My approach centers on a structured, step-by-step phonics system. Rather than relying on memorization or guesswork, students develop reading skills in a clear sequence, mastering each step before moving on to the next. This creates steady progress, strengthens foundational skills, and helps confidence grow naturally.
The method is delivered through EzeeReader, my proprietary online reading program designed specifically to guide students from phonics to reading, one mastered step at a time.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previously learned sounds and skills, followed by new phonics instruction and guided practice using EzeeReader. Each lesson is supported by custom printable activities that reinforce what the student has learned and provide additional practice between sessions. Pacing is individualized, allowing each student to move forward as quickly—or as gradually—as needed.
What makes my approach different is that EzeeReader wasn't created as a theoretical curriculum. It grew out of firsthand experience teaching my own children to read using this method and was later developed into a structured program to help other families. While I hold a B.S. in Business, my experience with this approach comes from applying it directly with beginning readers and building EzeeReader around the steps that helped turn early phonics skills into actual reading.
