About Lucy

I have 30+ years experience as an acting coach and theatre director, and 10 years running the acting programme at RADA (2014-2024) where I still work leading collaborative projects. I have worked for much of my career with young and developing actors, as well as with professionals working at every level of the industry. Most recently I was the co-director of Kenneth Branagh's King Lear at The Shed, NY (following its run in the West End). As Director of Actor Training at RADA I was responsible for the development of all the actors, from the audition process through to graduation, and taught, led projects and directed productions across the 3 years of training. I have taught and directed in many other drama schools in the UK and Australia and am passionate about developing actors' potential and helping them expand their imaginative range and creative possibilities. I am a qualified equine therapist and coach, and integrate wellness and resilience into acting coaching while maintaining rigour and meeting professional expectations.

About the lesson

My practice is collaborative, clear, rigorous and tailored to each individual actor. We'll work together to develop a programme that supports you to achieve your goals, whether you are getting ready for drama school entrance, preparing for auditions, self-taping, working through rehearsals, refining your acting skills, sustaining a run, or want coaching on managing the professional expectations and pressures of the industry. My process is Stanislavski-informed and I adopt and adapt methodologies including Meisner, Chekhov and Laban to help find clarity, specificity, detail, playfulness and embodied connection to circumstances. I specialise in classical, contemporary and new text-based work. As a coach and qualified therapist, my process supports emotional wellness and helps you develop the imaginative, creative and psychological resources you need for playfulness and longevity as an actor. Sessions are 1-2 hours depending on your need and can be online or in-person. Scene study classes for pairs or small groups may also be arranged.
