About Eva

I am from the South of Spain. I have always been passionate about learning languages and that was the reason why I studied Translation and Interpreting. On the last year of my degree I had the chance to teach Spanish at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh as an internship and that's when I realised how much I enjoyed teaching my native language. Since 2013, I have been teaching both English and Spanish as a private teacher. I used to do teaching and other jobs but for a couple of years now I've been dedicating myself to teaching only as self-employed.

I love speaking a foreign language so that's why for me it's incredibly rewarding to help others do the same. :)

About the lesson

For many years I believed that grammar was the key to speak a language. I, myself, suffered a lot learning English based on grammar exercises, rules, boring reading activities and books, etc. That was until I learnt about a completely different approach based on language acquisition which is basically how we all learn our native language: we don't start teaching babies grammar rules don't we? yet, they start picking up the language and end up speaking it perfectly. This approach works very well with all levels and, specially, with beginners.

Another key part of private lessons for me is to adapt to your individual necessities, I never do the same with students who have the same level, why? Because I adapt to what each of them likes doing. That’s the good thing about one-to-one lessons, we can always learn the same things but in a completely different way, it all depends on you.

I offer half an hour lessons, 45 min lessons or 1h lessons, whatever works better for the student. We can always try different options until we find what helps you with your learning process.

If you want to check it yourself, I offer one free lesson to show you, get to know each other and see if this is what you want or not (there’s nothing wrong with that! There’s plenty of teachers and different language approaches, you just have to find yours )
