About Melina
I have been an English teacher in London for the last 7 years and have previously worked as a Second in Department and a Head of Year.
Throughout that time, I have taught every year group from Year 7 to A Level.
I have extensive experience teaching the AQA GCSE and A Level syllabus and helping students achieve the top marks in these exams.
I hold a Master's Degree in English Literature and a PGCE in Secondary Education and am DBS checked.

I am a dedicated and passionate tutor, as well as a qualified teacher, with 7 years of experience helping students of all abilities develop their writing and literary analysis skills.
Having worked as a Second in Department, I have substantial experience in creating interesting lessons that allow students to maximise their attainment in English Literature and Language. I have also trained and worked for AQA as an English Literature examiner at GCSE level. I fully understand what is required for students to achieve the coveted top grades and the majority of my students go on to achieve levels 7-9. All of my tuition lessons are highly tailored to each student’s goals and needs.
Our initial lesson will be an informal assessment which will allow me to evaluate strengths and identify what areas need developing. The informal assessment will also allow me to create a tailored, long-term plan for our sessions moving forward. This plan will likely cover the following:
-Content sessions
-Skills practice
-Revision strategies
-Homework help
-Perfecting exam technique
-Preparation for mocks and in school assessments
-Live marking and modelling
-Boosting confidence
-And anything else requested by the student or parent
Along with this, each student will get a revision bundle which will include key quotations, chapter summaries and much more! Depending on the exam board, past papers with model answers can also be provided.
