About Manar

Hi, I’m Manar! I am a qualified Science teacher with QTS, a PGCE in Secondary Science specialising in Biology, and a BSc in Biomedical Science.

I have experience teaching KS3 Science and GCSE Biology in both secondary school and further education settings. I have supported students with a wide range of abilities and needs, including GCSE resit students, EAL learners and students with SEND. I also have previous private tutoring experience supporting KS2 pupils with homework and SATs preparation.

One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is building a positive rapport with students and helping them become more confident in topics they initially find difficult. I am patient, approachable and encouraging, and I want students to feel comfortable saying when they do not understand something.

My Biomedical Science degree gives me a strong foundation in Biology, while my teacher training and classroom experience have developed my ability to break complex scientific ideas down into clear, manageable steps. I am passionate about helping students strengthen their understanding, improve their exam skills and recognise what they are capable of achieving.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence in Science.

I usually begin by identifying the student’s goals and any gaps in their knowledge. Lessons combine clear explanations, targeted questioning and guided practice, followed by opportunities for students to apply their knowledge independently. I regularly check understanding throughout the lesson and adapt my explanations or activities whenever needed.

For GCSE Biology and Combined Science students, I also focus on exam technique. This includes understanding command words, applying knowledge to unfamiliar contexts, interpreting data and developing well-structured answers to longer exam questions.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are suitable for KS3 Science and GCSE Biology students, including those studying Combined Science. I can support students who need to fill gaps in their knowledge, revise particular topics, improve their exam technique or simply become more confident in Science.
