About Heather
Hello! I am a fully qualified primary teacher (University of Aberdeen graduate) with 5 years of classroom experience teaching in Scotland, Romania, and Andorra. I specialise in Early Years (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1), and I am fully trained in SEN (Levels 1–4, Early Years) and have completed my SENCO qualification. My passion is making education accessible, engaging, and stress-free for every individual learner.
My Specialties
- Phonics & Reading: Expert delivery of Read Write Inc. and Phonics Shed/EdShed. (I recommend highly active, 30-minute sessions for early readers!)
- Primary Maths: Mastery-led lessons using the White Rose Maths framework to build early number confidence.
- SEN & Inclusion: Tailored, sensory-aware approaches for neurodivergent children, ensuring no child is left behind.
Lesson Formats
I teach entirely online using interactive digital tools. While my main focus is EYFS and KS1, I am also happy to offer trial sessions for KS2 students to ensure we are a perfect fit.
Let's work together to boost your child's confidence!

My Techniques and Teaching Methodology believe learning should be accessible, high-energy, and tailored to how a child’s brain actually works. I do not expect young children to sit and stare at a screen. Instead, I use highly interactive, evidence-based UK frameworks alongside digital tools.
- Phonics Mastery: I deliver fast-paced, multi-sensory phonics using the Read Write Inc. and Phonics Shed (EdShed) schemes. We use physical flashcards, air-writing, interactive digital blending games and whiteboards, and spelling with "Fred Fingers."
- Maths Mastery: Following the White Rose Maths framework, I use the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach. Lessons involve a mix of physical "scavenger hunts" for home objects (Lego, coins), virtual onscreen manipulatives, and deep mathematical reasoning games.
- SEN & Inclusive Support: With comprehensive SEN (Levels 1–4, Early Years) and SENCO training, I design every lesson with accessibility in mind. I use visual anchors, clear routine transitions, and sensory-aware, confidence-building techniques so that neurodivergent learners truly thrive.
Typical Length of a Lesson
- Nursery, Reception, and Year 1: I highly recommend 30-minute high-impact sessions. Young minds have shorter attention spans online; rapid-fire, 30-minute active blocks keep engagement at 100% without screen fatigue.
- Year 2 and Above: Standard 45-to-60-minute sessions, split into distinct active learning phases, concrete practice, and problem-solving challenges.
My Qualifications & Experience
- 5 Years of Classroom Experience: Fully qualified primary school teacher with a teaching degree from the University of Aberdeen.
- Global Perspective: Proven track record teaching the UK curriculum both domestically in Scotland and internationally in Romania and Andorra.
- Specialist Credentials: Certified in SEN Levels 1–4, Early Years SEN, and recently completed my full SENCO qualification.
Who the Lessons Are For
- Primary Target: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) children (Ages 3 to 7) focusing on early reading, phonics, and foundational number confidence.
- Key Stage 2 (KS2): I am highly adaptable and more than happy to offer trial sessions for older primary children to see if my teaching style is a perfect fit for their learning goals.
