About Florence
I am a dynamic and learner-centred teacher who places a value on making 'intellectual' or academic content fun and engaging, fostering independent thinking and developing students' skills for self-study, which will serve them in the short and long term. In my experience this approach to teaching has a positive impact on students' self-motivation and attainment in exams, and contributes to a genuine interest in what they are studying.
First-Class Honours Degree in Classics (University of Nottingham) and Qualified PGCE Teacher (King's College London), with most recent position at in an independent school in North London. Over 8 years' teaching experience in the UK and Europe. Specialised in Classical Civilisation (modules spanning Epic, Latin Love poetry, Greek Drama, Philosophy, Ancient Art, Women in the Ancient World), Latin (OCR: Language, Literature and Culture and Prose Set Text), Italian (Beginner's to GCSE) as well as Renaissance literature and languages (Italian and Latin).
I am currently available for online opportunities only to tutor Latin and Classical Civilisation, from young learners to adults with an emphasis on personalised and active learning.
