About Tommy
As both a UK-qualified architect and native Chinese tutor, I believe language is a bridge to culture. My lessons combine structured grammar with storytelling, films, and art references, helping learners understand not only how to speak Chinese, but also why we express things the way we do. Born in northeast China and raised in Shanghai, I speak standard Mandarin, Shanghainese, and Cantonese — making accent refinement and pronunciation coaching one of my strongest areas. I was also a top Chinese language student in China, and with a multicultural background built over more than a decade in the UK, I easily adapt my teaching style to suit different levels and learning needs.
