About Sophia

I first qualified as a TEFL teacher in 2008 in Barcelona when I began teaching business English in companies such as Deloitte. Subsequently, I began teaching English as a foreign language in England during my Summer holidays and have found this qualification extremely useful when teaching in English state and preparatory schools.

About the lesson

I enjoy teaching one-to-one and in small groups as it allows me to put greater focus into the individual needs of each learner and through this I usually see rapid progression. I tailor make make my lessons to suit individual needs and I prefer to keeps my lessons as varied, active, fun and interesting as possible. I do this by combining memory games, short activities and practical tasks. I use a range of high quality learning resources to support learners and enjoy exploring new and creative methods to help aid learning and develop key skills.

When teaching languages, I focus on the key skills of listening, reading, writing, speaking, spelling and grammar. I begin by asking the learner what areas they would like to work on and I usually carry out a short assessment of these key areas.
