About Jo
Following a degree in English Literature, I spent a year travelling the world and teaching English to foreign students. On my return to England, I spent two years at law school and qualified as a solicitor. I worked in law and legal publishing for several years before moving to Malaysia with my family. It was here that I began to teach again - both as a volunteer for the UNHCR and in International Schools. I am now back in England and have obtained CELTA, QTS and PGCE teaching qualifications. I have worked in both state and private schools and now mainly teach GCSE and A level, with my students gaining excellent results. I also tutor 11+ and 13+ students for Common Entrance.

I adopt a friendly and flexible approach to tutoring, tailoring my methods and lesson plans to each individual student. I teach all ages from 10 years up to GCSE and A level and my students perform well in school and public exams. I have taught in schools for over 10 years and tutor both native and EAL speakers. My lessons are usually between one and two hours and I teach online and in person. I also tutor 11+ and 13+ for Common Entrance Exams. My lessons can be structured and led by me or I can respond to different needs, such as individual issues or help with homework. My aim is to inspire a passion for language and literature and to use a variety of interactive methods so we have fun while we learn.
