About Matthew

Hey, I’m Matt from Georgetown, Kentucky—a dedicated purple belt in Karate with a passion for teaching and sharing what I’ve learned. I’m working on gaining teaching experience and love helping total beginners and kids build strong basics in a chill but focused way. Karate isn’t just a hobby for me; it’s a journey I’m committed to growing in, and I want to help you start yours right. When I’m not training or teaching, I’m all about martial arts culture and finding new ways to improve both mind and body.

About the lesson

I specialize in teaching total beginners and kids who have zero experience in self-defense or fighting. My lessons strike a perfect balance between discipline and a relaxed, friendly vibe—no boring drill sergeant stuff, but enough structure to help you progress. Sparring is the main focus because that’s where real skills come alive, but I also mix in kata and practical self-defense techniques that you can actually use in everyday situations.

What sets my lessons apart? I work one-on-one, so you get personalized attention tailored to your pace and goals. While I’m still a purple belt and building my own journey, I’m committed to being the best basic Karate teacher I can be. My fresh perspective means I remember what it’s like starting out, and I’m here to guide you step-by-step with patience and real focus.
