About Amy
My whole life, I've been interested in the way people learn and helping others increase their skills.
In college, I was in charge of the military program's academics and raised the average GPA of the corps (350+ students) by 7/10 a point in a single year.
At Emory University as the Hispanic Studies PhD administrator (2006-2018), I continued to develop my knowledge of learning theory and structure.
I now create learning and development plans and workshops for the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes Benz Stadium, and Arthur M. Blank Foundation employees.
I hold degrees in English (writing and publication), Spanish, Leadership, and Human Development, and certifications in Personal Financial Planning, HR, Project Management, Personal Training and Nutrition.

- Learning should be focused around the learners' style for obtaining knowledge and the way the brain processes and stores information.
- To truly grasp a topic, learners must drive the learning process and have the proper environment, tools, and exercises to speed retention and make learning enjoyable.
- Since we're social creatures and our brains operate instinctively, circumstances can be leveraged to increase knowledge more quickly and remove roadblocks we may encounter during the learning process.
In my lessons, I'll cater to the learner's style, based on the content and time, and develop a plan and environment that's most productive. No two lessons will be the same.
Eg., Many learn through story, hands-on interaction, good emotional experiences, and the "why" behind the content:
So, If it's a study session for retention, we may:
- start the lesson with a story/exercise that evokes emotion to fire up the brain's retention center, and
- then walk through the information in an interesting way, revealing context and creating mental linkages.
- We may use recall activities proven to create/reinforce mental pathways (flash cards integrated with student-led explanations that are tied to fun activities, etc.)
