About Jay
I am a multidisciplinary folkloric artist with a strong literary background, having worked as a writer at the collegiate level and as a librettist fellow with a non-profit arts organization. Additionally, I have a performance background in Opera and musical theater, working both as a creator of theatrical works as well as an interpreter of them. My diverse experiences in these areas have given me a unique point of view about the nature and structure of language as more than a tool to produce ideas, but as the focus of the ideas themselves.

My method is to first assess the student's overall approach to the exercise of writing through an informal questionnaire, then based on those answers I tailor the nature of all lessons to their specific needs. The next step is to identify the writer's goals and build a step-by-step plan to reach them via focusing on bringing out their innate intellectual tools.
