About Nate
I am a published mystery/science fiction writer who has been honing his craft for decades. I have taught creative writing classes to blind and visually impaired students and provided content feedback for dozens of pieces written by peers. In a consistent effort to develop my craft, I have attended writers' conferences, writing workshops, and online writing classes, as well as read dozens of books on writing. Some of my short stories have been published in local journals, and you can find my insightful essays on Medium. I am currently writing a comic book series about space-faring vampire hunters.
I have a B.A. in Sociology from UCSB. My career path encompasses managing a chain bookstore, a library for the blind, and an elementary school library. I currently work as an alternate media specialist at a community college. I love helping people achieve their goals.

I teach storytelling skills from initial idea to final draft. Brainstorming, hooks, free writing, first drafts, outlines, metaphors, themes, character development, world-building, plot structure, pacing, tone, emotional cues, the revision process, sentence polishing, humor, and dialogue are among the skills I help aspiring writers develop. I am well-versed in writing novels, short stories, and comic book scripts. I treat essay writing much like fiction writing by applying storytelling principles. I teach lessons on the writing process as a whole as well as assist students with works in progress.
