About Telma
I am a Learning Support Practitioner at a Sussex further education college, where I work daily with young people who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting their academic development and preparation for adulthood. Alongside this, I am completing an MSc in Educational Psychology at Wrexham University, building on my BSc in Psychology with Clinical Approaches from the University of Sussex.
My background means I bring something a little different to tutoring. I don't just know the subject — I understand how people learn, what gets in the way of learning, and how to adapt my approach to suit each individual. I have experience supporting students with a wide range of needs, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other specific learning differences, and I am committed to inclusive, person-centred practice.
Outside of my professional role, I run a youth group and have a genuine passion for working with young people at key moments in their development. I take safeguarding seriously and hold a current enhanced DBS certificate, registered on the Update Service.
I am approachable, patient, and genuinely invested in the progress of every student I work with. Whether you are navigating A-levels, managing university study, or simply trying to find strategies that work for you — I am here to help.

My sessions are tailored to the individual — no two students learn in the same way, and I design each lesson around your specific needs, goals, and learning style. Drawing on my BSc in Psychology with Clinical Approaches and my ongoing MSc in Educational Psychology, I bring an evidence-based understanding of how people learn, remember, and stay motivated — which means my tutoring goes beyond just covering content.
For Psychology, RE, and Philosophy, I focus on building genuine conceptual understanding rather than rote memorisation. I use techniques grounded in cognitive science — spaced retrieval, structured discussion, scaffolded essay planning, and metacognitive strategies — to help students think more critically and write more confidently.
Sessions are typically 50–60 minutes and delivered online via Zoom or Google Meet, with some in-person availability in Brighton and the surrounding Sussex area. I work primarily with A-level, FE, and undergraduate students, though I am happy to discuss other levels on enquiry.
Whether you're working towards exams, trying to get to grips with a tricky concept, or developing your academic writing and study skills more broadly, I'll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be.
