Before I start with any student, I want to find out areas that the student is confident in and not so confident in. Whether this is knowledge in the area or how to answer the different types of questions. Once I know this, I can work out a plan that covers the students' weaker areas first. Depending on this, I would like to pick one area for each session. We will start going through the chosen topic in detail. Throughout the session I will ask sample questions, where I will ask the student to write in note format their answer and the 'model' answer so they can go back and look at these in revision. Then at the end of the session, I will give the student more formal sample questions they can complete. Lastly, I will give the student the relevant section of my condensed revision booklet I completed for my own revision which summarises the main points from each topic they should remember for the exam. The sample questions, of which many will come from actual past papers, will be the best tool in measuring the progress of each student. I want my students to be achieving their target grade in these papers before they sit their exam.
