About Ishani

Hi! I am Ishani - a PhD student in developmental psychology and teaching assistant at SFU. I have an MA in Developmental Psychology and a BA (Hons) in Applied Psychology. With my extensive knowledge of the subject, I have over 5 years of university level teaching experience as a teaching assistant and a private tutor at SFU.

I have taught various psychology, research methods, statistics courses to both large groups and individual students. Whether you need help understanding psychological theories, preparing for exams, mentoring for graduate school or improving your academic writing and critical-thinking skills, I will work with you to develop a learning approach that suits your goals.

About the lesson

I teach university-level psychology to students with diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and levels of experience. I work primarily with undergraduate psychology students, including students taking introductory psychology, developmental psychology, research methods and related courses.

As a PhD student in Developmental Psychology and an experienced teacher, I support students in understanding complex psychological concepts, preparing for exams, and developing academic writing and critical-thinking skills.

My teaching methodology focuses on making concepts clear, engaging, and relevant through real-life examples, interactive discussions, and breaking down complex theories into manageable steps. I adapt my approach to each student's learning style, goals, and pace, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

SFU specialization in PSYC100, PSYC102, PSYC201, PSYC210, PSYC250, PSYC260, PSYC359
