About Sophie
I’m Sophie, the founder and lead tutor at Thrive Tuition Hull. I have a First-Class BSc in Psychology with a Clinical Psychology pathway and an MSc in Health Psychology.
Alongside my academic background, I have experience supporting young people with different learning needs and understand that every student learns differently. My background in psychology has given me a strong understanding of learning, motivation, confidence and the factors that can affect a student’s ability to succeed academically.
I’m particularly passionate about supporting students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom environment, including those with SEND, dyslexia or low academic confidence. I believe that good tuition should be about much more than improving grades. It should help students understand their own strengths, develop effective strategies and feel genuinely capable.
I founded Thrive Tuition because I wanted to create the kind of supportive learning environment that I would have wanted as a student: somewhere you can ask questions without feeling embarrassed, make mistakes without judgement and receive teaching that is adapted to you.
I’m DBS checked and committed to providing a safe, supportive and professional learning environment. Whether you’re looking for support with GCSE English, A-level Psychology, Functional Skills or building confidence with learning, I’m here to help you reach your goals.

Hi, I’m Sophie, the founder of Thrive Tuition Hull.
I’ve always believed that struggling with a subject doesn’t mean you’re not capable of succeeding in it. Sometimes students simply need someone to explain things differently, give them the time they need, and help them believe in themselves again.
I provide friendly, personalised tuition in GCSE English Language and Literature, A-level Psychology and English Literature, and Functional Skills English, as well as supporting students with SEND and dyslexia.
My sessions are relaxed, supportive and completely tailored to the individual student. Whether you’re preparing for exams, struggling with a particular topic, trying to catch up, or simply want to feel more confident, we’ll work together to find an approach that works for you.
I don’t want students to become dependent on tuition. My aim is to help them develop the knowledge, confidence and study skills they need to eventually feel more independent in their learning.
I offer in-person tuition across Hull and surrounding areas, as well as online sessions, and I’m happy to work with students at different stages and abilities.
If you’re looking for a tutor who will take the time to understand you as a student, rather than simply work through a textbook, I’d love to hear from you.
Let’s help you feel more confident, make progress and thrive.
