I have known John for many years. He has taught in school and from home and keeps his pupils long term because he is a skilled and enthusiastic teacher. I am an adult amateur who started as a child then stopped for years. I’ve been taking lessons with John for about six years now and I can’t recommend him highly enough. The lessons are fun and we have a laugh, but make no mistake, John is a wonderful player, who not only knows his stuff inside out, he knows how to teach it too, breaking techniques down into easily manageable chunks. He also really listens to what you want from your playing and shows you how to achieve that. I have never thought of myself as particularly talented at the violin, but I have worked hard over the last 6 years, following his expert guidance, and can now play better than I ever thought possible. I am excited to discover just how much further I can go under his tuition.

I have heard John play many times and he is a brilliant violinist!! He is also caring, kind and patient which makes him well suited to teaching. Along with his laid back attitude and high level training in London I think he is an excellent teacher.
