About Maggie
B. Arts degree and many years as a professional musician in many, many different types of settings: solo singer-songwriter, duo groups, bands (I was the vocalist for the 18-piece JIMMY MARANDO SWING BAND in Niagara, Canada, for 10 wonderful years), part of many different church groups through the years and praise/worship leader/choir leader, soloist. I taught elementary children music theory, music education and prepared them for concerts (a few years at Maranatha School and Faith Haven Academy, both in St. Catharines, Ontario), several of the children had special needs (autism spectrum). Also as a volunteer at many events, public, private, schools, hospitals, festivals, church events, etc., etc. There's no end to where music will bring a performer! As an emcee at many musical dinner shows, I also learned the craft of comedy, loving making people laugh as much as singing for them!

I begin teaching with the foundation of ENJOYMENT OF MUSIC, starting with YOUR STRENGTHS and always ENCOURAGEMENT, no matter what particular goals are being set! Music must be fun, especially if your goal is to become a performer of any kind. Your audience must be convinced by your singing style using clarity of lyrics, dynamics, emotion and excellent song choices for your repertoire. I've recorded a few of my own cds as well as write my own songs. Songwriting is a special skill that needs to be encouraged and crafted with intention and authenticity. I would love to help you enjoy your journey of becoming a strong singer-performer! Although I play guitar and piano, I prefer to concentrate on coaching singers and encouraging them to learn to play at least one instrument (aside from voice). I will happily send references from the school I taught at as well as links to hear my own music. Thank you for your consideration!
