About Manuel

Hello, my name is Manuel. I bring a unique dual perspective to my teaching: I am a healthcare professional (Physical Therapist) in my home country of Peru, and I have 7 years of extensive experience as a professional English-Spanish Medical Interpreter for various companies in the US healthcare system.

Having worked in both clinical and administrative roles, I am fully versed in HIPAA compliance, medical protocols, and the healthcare frameworks of both the US and Latin America. I understand the medical field from the inside out—both as a provider and as the linguistic bridge between doctors and patients.

While grammar is a necessary foundation, my teaching goes far beyond textbook rules. Spanish is a vast, diverse language. Communicating with a patient from Mexico is completely different from treating someone from Peru, Ecuador, Chile, or Argentina. AI and generic translation apps simply cannot capture these critical cultural and dialectal nuances. The way a patient speaks directly affects how we perceive their symptoms, which is why understanding these differences is a growing necessity in modern healthcare.

At the end of the day, the patient is the most important part of any medical interaction. My mission is to empower you to navigate these regional dialects, understand exactly what your patients mean, and know how to express your medical ideas safely and empathetically. Whether you want to communicate independently or learn how to manage and work alongside an interpreter more effectively, I am excited to share my clinical and linguistic expertise to help you provide the best possible care.

About the lesson

Who these lessons are for:
These classes are specifically designed for doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and triage staff who want to break the language barrier and connect directly with their Spanish-speaking patients.

A typical lesson plan (Starting from Day 1):
On our very first day, we will have an interactive session to assess your current Spanish baseline. We will discuss your specific medical specialty, your daily duties, and the vocabulary you use the most. Based on this evaluation, I will design a highly personalized learning path for you.

My teaching method and techniques:
In our regular classes, we will move away from boring textbooks and focus on practical, customized mock scenarios and role-play. We will simulate real-life clinical encounters, from the initial triage to explaining a complex diagnosis. You will practice asking the right questions and giving clear instructions in a safe, constructive environment.

What sets me apart:
With 7 years of experience as a medical interpreter, I offer insights you won't find in a traditional language class. I will teach you the crucial differences between Spanish dialects from various countries, ensuring you understand exactly what your patient means, regardless of their background.
