About James

I have a post graduate Diploma from the London School of Musical Theatre and have been teaching and working in the business for 5 years. I have had students get into prestigious schools such as Arts Educational, Urdang, Laine, Bird and Mountview. As I am still working in the industry I am constantly learning from top teachers and professionals.
I also hold many LAMDA qualifications in Verse and Prose, Devising Drama, Musical Theatre and Acting. I am also well versed in local and national competition circuits, having coached several students through them.

About the lesson

For Acting I usually start under 14s with verse and prose pieces unless we have a specific goal, we then move on to contemporary, period and Shakespeare pieces and/or devising drama lessons.
For Musical Theatre, if teaching a beginner I focus on a mix of vocal and acting techniques. I'm trained in the Bel Canto vocal technique and think this works best but also have training in Estill so can help you to understand the difference if moving from or to another teacher.
I can do one off lessons or periods of lessons for auditions or shows.
I primarily offer weekly coaching working on technique and a wide rep variety to prepare you for any audition, competition or exam.

The LAMDA syllabus is taught across all age groups and all genres according to needs are taught. James is a patient and intense teacher. He has a vast knowledge of technique and teaches in an engaging manner which means that children simply adore him. He is able to control behaviour and this is generally done through mere respect. James has taught leaners who are autistic and who have special needs. Again he has a wealth of knowledge and adapts his teaching to abilities and needs. James has also worked with gender fluid learners and met their needs at all times. James is able to prepare learners for LAMDA exams and we are proud to boast a 100% pass rate with a 97% distinction rate.
I have no hesitation in recommending James for any post he is applying for. His passion for the arts is second to none and you will not be disappointed.
