About Alessia
Passionate about modern and ancient languages, I am a qualified teacher with QTS from the UCL Institute of Education and four years of teaching experience in London. In the past four years, I taught Latin at Pimlico Primary in Westminster and worked as KS2 Teacher and Humanities Subject Lead at Macaulay Primary School in Clapham.
In 2008, I started teaching Italian while I was studying Languages and Cultures of Eastern Asia (BA, MA) at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in Italy. As part of my Bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures of Eastern Asia, I also attended a Chinese intensive course at the Jiaotong University of Chengdu, China, in 2006, which focused on Chinese speaking, grammar, writing and Chinese calligraphy. I taught Italian and Chinese to children of different backgrounds and languages at G. Marconi Primary School in Venice, where I also managed some intercultural projects to facilitate the integration of foreign students. In 2009, I taught Italian to students of different age groups, including professionals and university students at L’Arco Cooperative in Venice, Italy. In 2016, I graduated in Theory and Practice of Translation, Chinese-English (MA) from Soas University of London, where I gained excellent translating skills of journalistic, legal, medical and literary texts, as well as an advanced knowledge of linguistic issues related to language learning and teaching strategies. In my lessons, I like to engage in conversation and make fun and learning intertwine. Focusing on your chosen subjects and learning needs, I will create personalised thematic lessons and intercultural activities to guide you in an immersive learning journey. Please contact me for further details.
Many thanks.

As someone who has worked in many levels of education, from teenagers to masters and PhD level teaching, I can confidently say that Alessia is a brilliant tutor.
She takes the time to understand your goals and requirements, encourages you to challenge yourself, whilst also building lesson plans that are manageable and enjoyable.
Always punctual, very supportive, and eager to learn about how you learn best, she adapts her lessons to what works well for you, and to target what you're struggling with.Wonderful teacher - very patient and well prepared for every lesson. Thanks Alessia!
Alessia is a very professional teacher, she always prepares her lessons in advance, brings in material to work on and give us homework too! She goes to our pace and very patient as well as being kind and lively.
Alessia is a really great tutor, she is flexible, has a structured approach yet caters to my needs. We have a laugh too which is important. As a former teacher, i can really recommend her tutoring style.
I have met Alessia during a project of teaching Italian to native Chinese speaker, who had nearly no previous knowledge of Italian. Alessia is educated, kind, friendly and has strong interpersonal skills.
She has always been able to apply teaching techniques with an intercultural approach, aimed at facilitating the students interactions in daily life contexts.
Alessia has always offered diversified activities, characterized by originality, as a result of an in-depth
individual research of the contents covered. She has always been punctual and available to collaborate
with teachers and school children, demonstrating a significant sense of responsibility and good problem
solving skills.
I definitely consider her a valuable resource in tutoring activities for both adults and children.I studied Chinese for my first time and she was a very passionate and dedicated tutor. I learned important aspects of the language and culture and I really appreciated the way she teach you the Chinese grammar, the tones and the characters, which has been very important for me. I would need her help soon to go further on my future exams preparation.
I had few lessons with Alessia to improve my Italian grammar skills and pronunciation. I had a lot of fun while learning many tips to be clearer when I speak. She recognized my weaknesses straight away and we work hard on them. I feel I've come a long way since I started and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for someone professional and charismatic.
