About Harry

I am a professional musician with a lot of both performing and teaching experience under my belt. I was a classically trained percussionist when I began my musical journey coming up through organisations such as the national children's orchestra and plenty of well known brass bands. I still perform in a lot of classical/orchestral music around the northwest area but my main focus has become the drum kit. I graduated from The Leeds Conservatoire with a first class degree in jazz performance and ever since then i have been constantly on the road with different projects. As well as performing across the UK and Europe i teach in schools, brass bands and from my home studio space all the time and love helping students unlock their love and talent for music. Whatever kind of music they are into or the level they are at.

About the lesson

lessons are available to any ages and level of playing. Beginners, intermediate and experienced players are all welcome!

I put a heavy emphasis on finding techniques that work for you to enhance your playing and I beleive learning to read music is a great skill to have, but understand not eberyone wants to. So we can tailor lessons to you and how you'd like to learn.
I have had plenty of experience teaching in both primary and secondary schools, orchestral/brass band settings and specialised lessons looking at specific concepts and styles on depth. I teach out of a space in my home in Halifax that always has 2 drum kits set up to be able to easily demonstrate ideas to students.

My teaching consists of both work at the drum kit working on concepts and ideas and work on the practice pad to make sure our hand technique is really working for us.

I am happy to look at graded music as well as learning to improvise freely on the drums. We can delve into working on your sound/ technique, learn styles/feels, learn how to properly set up and tune drums for different applications and learn how to be ready for any gig thats thrown at you.

I really think it is important as musicians that we can play along to the music we love with ease so i will be delving into lots of ideas/concepts to help you be able to play along to anything! Lessons can be half an hour/an hour or more. Whatever works for you.
