About Marwanmas
I am a Lebanese Arabic language teacher with over 16 years of teaching experience. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck, University of London.
I hold a degree in Arabic Language and Literature and have taught a wide range of students from diverse academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds. My students have included UK university students, journalists, diplomats, researchers, NGO workers, religious preachers, and others with a professional or personal interest in the Middle East and Arabic studies.
I specialise in teaching both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Levantine Arabic, helping students progress from complete beginner to advanced level according to their individual goals and needs.
I have also supported UK university students preparing for language immersion experiences in Lebanon, helping them develop the linguistic skills and cultural understanding needed to communicate confidently in real-life situations.
Alongside my teaching career, I have worked in Arabic-language media, which has given me valuable insight into the language as it is used in journalism, public communication, and contemporary Arab society. I am also the founder of an Arabic language school in Lebanon.
My teaching approach combines structured language learning with practical communication and cultural awareness. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)
For students learning MSA, I follow the Al-Kitaab curriculum, widely used in university Arabic programmes. I also incorporate authentic Arabic articles and other materials tailored to each student's level, academic goals, and personal interests. My lessons focus on developing reading, writing, listening, speaking, and a deeper understanding of Arabic grammar and vocabulary.
Spoken Levantine Arabic
For students who want to communicate naturally with native Arabic speakers, I have developed my own series of teaching books designed to take learners from complete beginners to an advanced level. The lessons combine practical vocabulary, everyday expressions, useful sentence structures, and guided conversation to help students build confidence and communicate effectively in real-life situations.
My lessons can also include discussions on politics, culture, current affairs, history, and other topics related to the Middle East, depending on your interests and language level. This approach allows you to develop your Arabic skills while exploring subjects that matter to you.
Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to advance your existing skills, I tailor my lessons to your needs, goals, and learning pace.
