About Maya
I’m a professional actress, director, playwright, and theater educator with more than ten years of experience working with students, emerging artists, and professional theater organizations. My career has allowed me to experience storytelling from every angle—from performing onstage and directing productions to developing curriculum and helping young artists discover their own creative voices.
As an actress, I have performed with respected theater organizations throughout Northeast Ohio, including Karamu House, Cleveland Public Theatre, Magical Theatre Company, and Ohio Shakespeare Festival. My performance experience ranges from classical and contemporary theater to musical theater, film, and voiceover work. One of my most rewarding performance experiences was starring in the one-woman production *Queens Girl: Black in the Green Mountains*, where I portrayed eighteen different characters.
As an educator, I have taught acting, directing, stage management, and playwriting while developing theater programming for students of varying ages and experience levels. I believe great theater training should be challenging, encouraging, and practical. My goal is to create a space where students feel comfortable taking creative risks while developing strong technique, confidence, discipline, and a deeper understanding of storytelling.

My lessons are designed for aspiring actors, playwrights, and creative storytellers who want to strengthen their craft, build confidence, and develop their unique artistic voice. Each session is personalized to meet you where you are—whether you’re a beginner discovering theatre, a student preparing for college auditions, or an experienced artist looking to sharpen your skills.
**Acting lessons** may include character development, script and text analysis, monologue and scene work, audition preparation, movement, vocal expression, emotional connection, and techniques for creating truthful, dynamic performances.
**Playwriting lessons** guide students through developing original ideas, creating compelling characters, writing authentic dialogue, building dramatic structure, strengthening conflict, and transforming an initial concept into a complete theatrical work.
My teaching approach combines professional theatre training with an encouraging, hands-on environment where students are challenged to take creative risks, make bold choices, and discover what makes their artistic voice uniquely their own. The goal isn't simply to memorize lines or finish a script—it’s to understand the craft behind powerful storytelling and develop skills you can continue using long after our lessons end.
