About Stephen

Trained at Drama Centre London, I have worked across television, advertising and theatre, including performances at Wyndham's Theatre and the Old Vic. I am passionate about acting and the techniques that bring a character to life. Whether you are a beginner, preparing for an audition, developing a monologue or looking to build confidence, I can help you explore your abilities in a supportive and encouraging environment. I currently perform my own one-person show, *Jack*, about the psychological impact of the First World War, which received five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe. I look forward to helping you discover your potential as a performer.

About the lesson

My teaching is action-based. I believe that action is at the heart of compelling acting: it generates risk, focus and energy, and provides a practical way to tackle technical difficulties and build confidence.

A key part of my approach is learning to read a script in terms of units of action and understanding how these shape the story being told. We explore how to identify key words and phrases that reveal a character’s intentions, attitudes and personality. Through practical exercises and close work on the text, you will develop a clearer understanding of your character, strengthen your performance and discover greater freedom and confidence as an actor.
