About Sam

Hi, I'm a poet and writer with a passion for teaching and creativity and I'd love to help you achieve your writing ambitions.

I've been lecturing and tutoring for over three years and keep sessions fun and challenging. I'm also a 2020 Prizewinner for the Streetcake Experimental Writing Award and have been published internationally, as well as helping shape the popular Creative Writing programme at the University of Plymouth where I lead the Advanced Poetry Workshop Module.

I've been writing, both creatively and professionally, for over a decade and have experience in poetry, dramatic writing, short stories, creative non-fiction, and the guidelines that bind these genres together. My Undergraduate and Masters were both focused on Creative and Critical writing and I received my doctorate in Creative Writing late last year, specialising in the more radical sides of contemporary poetics. I'm also a Fellow of Advance Higher Education (a postgraduate-level fellowship), and I focused my research on digital learning methodologies.

About the lesson

A Creative Writing workshop should be playful, inspiring and challenging, and our sessions will consist of some guided writing activities followed by a personalised critique of your work, as well as focusing on one key rule/guideline of writing. These workshops are designed with you in mind and I want to hear your opinions on the subject! You'll also get a prompt and a text to work on for our next session.

For 7+, 8+ school entrance exams, you’ll get access to the Comprehensive English Writing pack if you sign up for 10+ sessions.

Excellent! We had few lessons from Sam and he was really good. We were looking for in-person lessons and Sam was planning to move out from neighbourhood and unfortunately we could not continue for very long. But he is really good of his art!
