About Brooke
I am someone who, has always had a desire to learn and values education and academia greatly. Whether it be: the creative arts like writing and painting, STEM subjects, or even MFL I find interest in all of these vastly different, yet intensely important, areas. Aside from my love for learning a major reason I would love to teach is, simply put, I enjoy teaching. Expanding young minds and working with children has always been so fulfilling for me, and seeing the joy when they finally understand something is precious. Additionally, I adore literature and read around 100 books annually, so I would say it is a big part of my life and if just one student went away with half of the love of literature as I do that would be reason enough for me. I taught my younger brother, who has ADHD and autism, how to read after he was 9 and I realised he still hadn't learnt how. Whilst this wasn't an easy feat, and at times proved difficult, this was such a profound and important experience for me, that the idea of teaching sounds entirely fulfilling.

Ensuring my lessons are as straightforward, yet educational, as possible is my main priority. The lengths of these lessons can vary depending on need but generally 1-2 hours should suffice. Whilst, I may not have "official experience" within my school I was an English peer mentor, this involved teaching the younger years how to read. I have also received awards in my English from school, along with my Maths, science, French, and communications. I am currently working at straight A-A* level in my final GCSE year, so whilst mainly targeting 11+ students any GCSE level students could also benefit from these lessons. Ideally, children would be anywhere between 5-14. I have volunteered for over a year now at my school's preparatory school so have plenty of experience working and engaging with children.
