About Jackie
I am a registered primary school teacher in Queensland, currently on extended leave. I have been teaching since 2005. I have a passion for teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. I have recent and relevant experience in the Australian Curriculum as I teach my own son through state-based distance education. I am confident using online platforms eg. Blackboard Collaborate to engage with learners where distance or circumstance prevents face-to-face collaboration.

I believe all learners are different and as such, there is no one-size-fits-all teaching pedagogy. In today's current climate, I feel there is a significant focus on data and results, which at times impacts negatively on student learning. Misconceptions can be developed when students are pushed through learning content without being given appropriate time to establish a genuine understanding. This can leave gaps in knowledge, resulting in a shaky foundation. I aspire to expose those gaps, provide students with individualised ways to fill those gaps and strengthen their foundation, becoming confident learners.
