About Sin D

I’m a Chinese tutor, and I believe that language learning should feel like growth, not struggle.

What drives me is simple: I’ve learned that every child has their own rhythm and needs. Some need more time to feel confident speaking. Others thrive with structure and encouragement. My job isn’t just to teach Chinese—it’s to figure out what each child needs to feel capable and supported, then build from there.

I’m here because I’ve seen how a small adjustment, a shorter lesson, a gentler approach to speaking, a focus on what matters most to a family, can transform how a child feels about learning. I’ve watched shy students become confident speakers, and struggling readers suddenly understand what they’re reading. Those moments matter to me.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Your child is unique, and they deserve a tutor who listens, observes, and adapts. Someone who sees when something isn’t working and changes course. Someone who understands that building confidence is just as important as building skills.

That’s who I am. That’s why I teach.

About the lesson

I have four years of experience providing one-to-one, in-person Chinese tuition for preschool and primary school students.

In my lessons, I focus on helping students build a strong foundation in Chinese, including vocabulary, reading comprehension, sentence construction, and oral communication. I tailor each lesson according to the student’s ability and learning goals, whether it is strengthening fundamentals, keeping up with school work, or preparing for exams, depending on the purpose of this tuition.

I also pay close attention to each student’s learning pace and concentration span. For example, one of my students had difficulty staying focused during a 1.5-hour lesson. After observing this, I suggested shortening the lessons to 1 hour instead, which helped the student stay more engaged and made the lessons more productive.

I understand that many students may feel shy or lack confidence when speaking Mandarin. As students become more comfortable, I gradually encourage them to speak more Mandarin during lessons so they can build confidence and improve their fluency in a natural way.
