About Gursimran

I will be starting university in a few weeks time and looking back and seeing how far I have come in my life, I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of my mathematics tutors. Throughout primary school, I was afraid of maths because I was never able to understand it. When I got my tutor at the end of year 5, they were able to make maths so easy and more importantly, enjoyable for me, that there was no other subject I wanted to push myself in more. That feeling of understanding and knowing that when I didn't know how to answer a question, I had someone there to help me, will stay with me forever. I want to now pass this on to other children through my tutoring because I believe everybody should have the opportunity to be better and learn new things in an exciting yet academic way.

About the lesson

I achieved a grade 8 in GCSE maths and in my A-levels, I achieved an A* in maths and an A in further maths. I also achieved a grade A in A-level economics. During GCSE's, I was asked by teachers to help out and teach fellow students maths to ensure they were on track to meet their target grades. I started doing online tutoring a month ago and currently teach children ranging from year 4 to GCSE level. I have started to teach economics to A-level students now as well and as well as helping them, it has made me entrench and make clear certain concepts to myself. I teach for an hour. I believe that when teaching maths, any new concepts I introduce to students should be clear and well understood before moving on and trying to answer practice questions. A strong and firm base means that there is less chance of error once the student begins attempting questions. I also regularly try and encourage my students to explain a concept back to me so that I know for sure how much they have understood and where a little more work is needed. I am able to teach all children up to and including GCSE level.
