I am preparing for UPSC (CSE) and Geography is my optional subject, which helped me to have a strong hold over the subject. I have written 2025 Mains. Most students lack conceptual clarity in Geography and hence they feel Geography is a complex subject.

Geography is a subject that includes Theoretical (Human Geography) and Scientific angle (Physical Geography). Physical Geography is more of a conceptual subject; if you understand the concept once, then it's quite easier to go with this part. I have observed one thing: it's not the complexity of the phenomena but the complexity of the language used by the explainer/teacher that makes the concepts more difficult. So here I will explain each concept in very simple language, and you will observe that you will be able to visualize the geographical physical phenomena. The next part is Human Geography, which actually depends a lot on the Perspectives in Human Geography (i.e., even what's the need to include the human angle into geography) and the other one is laws, theories, models, etc., which affect the development of a subject. Having a strong hold over these helps us to understand the other units of human geography easily.
