About Pouné
I’m Pouné, a National Chemistry Olympiad gold medallist (2018) and recipient of a Diploma of Honor at the International Chemistry Olympiad (2019). I majored in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tehran, where I earned a 4.0 GPA. I’m currently completing biology prerequisites at McGill University to complement my engineering background and prepare for applying to medical school.
I have served as a teaching assistant for +3 university-level courses continuously for over 4 semesters, including Electromagnetism, Differential Equations, Biomedical Control Systems Optimization. I have also tutored chemistry and mathematics and conducted research involving Raman spectroscopy using computational approaches to Drug Delivery. These experiences have helped me connect scientific theory with practical problems and explain complex ideas clearly.
What draws me to chemistry is understanding why things happen: why a reaction follows a particular pathway, how molecular structure affects behaviour, and how a few fundamental principles connect seemingly different problems. That curiosity shapes my teaching. I want students to understand the reasoning well enough to approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.

My lessons combine clear explanations, guided problem-solving, and practice adapted to your course and goals. We begin by identifying where you feel stuck, then build the understanding you need to move forward.
Brief Objective:
• General chemistry: stoichiometry, bonding, thermodynamics, equilibrium, acids and bases, and electrochemistry.
• Organic chemistry: molecular structure, stereochemistry, conformations, and reaction mechanisms.
• Exam preparation: recognizing question patterns, choosing an approach, and checking your reasoning.
• Assignment support: working through concepts and guiding you toward your own solutions.
During a typical lesson, we explore the concept, work through an example together, and then practise applying it independently. I use diagrams, questions, and connections to familiar ideas to make the reasoning easier to follow.
Whether you’re rebuilding your foundations or tackling more challenging material, the goal is to help you understand chemistry and develop a reliable approach to solving problems.
Recommendations
Recommendations are written by the tutor's friends, family, and acquaintances.
She is very knowledgeable and has her unique style of teaching, which is really effective. She goes above and beyond for her students to make sure they have learned every aspect. Once, I was really nervous for my organic chemistry final. I had 3 sessions with her before my exam, during which she patiently reviewed the topics thoroughly, and then we worked on possible questions that might come up in the actual exam, which was actually pretty accurate. I passed the course, my final score being 92/100, all thanks to her dedication and commitment. No need to say that she is highly recommended, and you will be in very good hands!
Highly recommend her for both Chemistry and Math. She’s knowledgeable and explains difficult concepts in a simple way. I would definitely recommend her.
I highly recommend Poune as an English tutor. Her teaching style is clear, patient, and adaptable, making lessons both engaging and effective. She takes the time to understand your level and goals, and then tailors the lessons accordingly.
Beyond teaching, she is friendly, reliable, and genuinely invested in her students’ progress. If you’re looking for a dedicated and supportive English teacher, Poune is an excellent choice.See more recommendations
