About Jonathan
I am a qualified teacher of Arabic with 20 years' experience teaching and tutoring all kinds of students, from beginner to advanced. After gaining a university degree in Arabic in the UK, I was a military linguist for a long time, operating in Arabic in various countries in the Middle East, and also teaching Arabic to different audiences, having gained a postgraduate teaching degree. This included 3 years as head of the Arabic language wing at the UK's military language school. After leaving the military, I lived and worked in the Middle East for 10 years, whilst continuing to tutor students. I tutor via Zoom for all levels and ages. Sessions are customized specifically for each individual.

Each student is different, and I am passionate about identifying each individual's linguistic goals and expectations, and then working together to create a suitable plan to get them to their objectives. Having been a non-native speaking student of Arabic, and then as a teacher of Arabic, I am very aware of possible obstacles to the happy and successful study of the language. No matter the level of student proficiency, from beginner to advanced, and always subject to an individual's requirements, I strive to employ different enjoyable learning activities in each session that encompass the four key skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
