About Elle

I have a postgraduate background in philosophy and a genuine passion for making philosophical thinking accessible to anyone with an interest in it. Having spent several years working in regulation and running my own business before returning to academic philosophy, I understand how transformative it can be to engage seriously with ideas and how much it matters to have someone who can guide you through difficult material with clarity and enthusiasm.

I am completing my MA in Philosophy at King's College London, and have recently worked with the Philosophy Foundation facilitating philosophical enquiry in schools. I would love to bring that same approach to A-level students helping them not just to pass their exams, but to genuinely enjoy and understand one of the most important subjects they will ever study.

About the lesson

My approach to philosophy tutoring is rooted in genuine philosophical enquiry. Philosophy is a subject that rewards careful thinking and argument, and my aim is to help students develop the ability to engage critically with ideas, rather than memorising positions.

For A-level students, I work closely with the AQA specification, ensuring students have a solid grounding in the four topic areas: Epistemology, Moral Philosophy, Metaphysics of God and Metaphysics of Mind. I focus particularly on helping students structure their arguments clearly and evaluate competing positions, the skills that distinguish strong exam performance at A-level.

I hold an MSc in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh and am completing my MA in Philosophy at King's College London. I have recently completed a Philosophy Foundation facilitator certificate, working with students in schools to develop philosophical reasoning skills.

Lessons are typically one hour, delivered online or in person in the Eastbourne area. I tailor each session to the individual student, whether that means working through difficult concepts, practising essay technique, or building confidence ahead of exams.

My tutoring is primarily aimed at A-level students, though I am happy to discuss other levels on request.
