About Megan

Hi there! I was a straight A pupil in high school and continue to achieve sound results at university. I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a LLB Law (Honours) Degree, and am currently undertaking the Diploma in Legal Practice this academic year before commencing a two- year traineeship in a prestigious law firm.

I am super friendly and approachable! I’ve taught basic law lessons to school children for years and l definitely have the skills for tutoring! I’ve worked with young people before through volunteering so, I am also very patient, understanding and have developed the requisite skills and qualities needed to ensure the pupil gets the most out of the lesson.

I have seen some of my pupils jump as many as two grade boundaries after our sessions. The feedback I get from parents is that their child's confidence in English improves enormously and their ability in the subject comes on leaps and bounds.

I completely understand exams can be daunting. Part of my learning experience has definitely been just learning one little thing at a time and building it up. Progress takes time and nothing happens overnight.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions- this is how you learn! No question is stupid and I will always try my best to answer it the best I can.

About the lesson

In the first lesson I will always allow time for introductions and to get to know the pupil. Afterwards, I will provide rather general exercises and tasks just to assess the pupil to obtain their level but also to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. This helps me to make lesson plans for the forthcoming weeks.

I always encourage participation and repeatedly ask if there are any questions to ensure they are keeping up with the lesson. If they are not, I will always slow it down and go over anything. During lessons, I also like to leave time for the pupil to answer questions to ensure understanding by giving them 10- 15 minutes or so to come up with an answer and then present it to me. This allows me to see what they have really understood and what to work on.

Every week, I will quickly recap what we learned the previous week to ensure consolidation. This ensures consistency.

I will never just talk at the pupil for the 55 minutes. I will always encourage them to answer questions and ask them!
